Really like the effect you've done with the text to make it appear on the glass sphere - very nice! proposetoast

Again, a great piece of art - I'll have to make time to try this all out for myself one day! smile

Nice work pc. Keep sending them our way. I've got a picture of a fish in a pond I want to put in a drawing using the 3-D effects, and studying your work helps a lot.... Just to skeered to try it yet.....plus still working on the Jaguar picture for the zoo book....ugggh! I wish I had your talent.heart Lori Ann

Thanks guys, as always your comments are greatly appreciated. The effects are the same as the ones used on the tutorials I posted. The difference here is that I applied more transparent layers (15) to the "glass" sphere. In some cases the layers are taken down to 10% transparency and some layers have no fill at all, however I blurred (motion) the line and applied a 10% -20% transparency. What I need now is a way to apply a "shine" without having DP automatically apply 3D effects. Applying a shine filter would achieve a more "realistic" look.
Loriann, you ain't supposed to be "skeered" , it is "agan" the law in Texas biggrin biggrin biggrin

Rolling on the floor laughing! So true Effie...Texans ain't supposed to be skeered of nothin'! But we are human and have our weak points. Computers and cockroaches are mine. I'm getting braver, but.......it's a slow process.
I'm having a mental block, and maybe it will help me and JJ out.blushing
When you are working with your transparencies, you talk about going to 10% or 20%. I know that it has to be as easy as pie, but I can't figure out how to do that. I've just be using the options given to me in the drop down menu....but there is actually a way to apply how much T you want to use? confused

So sorry, but I am just a Navarro gradgeett. Class of '82 and a total of 26 students. tongue (explains alot huh? biggrin)

Major Faux pas on my part, my apologies to all, I keep using the term transparency when the correct term in DP is opacity. JJ & Loriann to see the effect of opacity draw a rectangle and fill it using a medium gray.

1.On the color tab select HSL slider and apply these settings: H=0, S=0 & L =50

2.Draw a circle and using the HSL slider apply the flowing settings: H=19, S= 76 & L=52. Move the circle so half of it is outside the rectangle. Copy and paste the circle it 3 more times.

3.Line them up side by side.

4.Select the second circle, click the color tab, go to the opacity slider and move the selector to 75%, do this for the other circles with settings of 50% and 10%.

To achieve transparency, I select the last 3 circles; use the alignment tool so they are aligned on the horizontal and vertical planes. Make sure the top layer is the one with the 10% opacity. One trick I use is to change the line color so I can tell them apart. Now comes the fun part.

1.Copy the last layer and change the color to white, play with the opacity until get the consistency of a dull glaze.

2.With the layer still selected, go to the transparency tab, select Radial and apply Radial 3. Change the opacity to 75%.

3.With the layer still selected, go to the transparency tool (looks like a wine glass) click on it. Grab the center handle and move it up and to the either right or left, now grab the outer (black) handle and change its size.

For this first pass you should have the beginnings of a nice glass ball with a nice highlight. Create more figures and push them behind the circle to give the impression of depth and increase the transparency perception.

Hope this helps.

Effie biggrin:
